If there are two groups of people who often fail to get along, they are the fans of two
different famous TV shows belonging to the same genre. The ones loyal to one TV show
don’t leave any opportunity to regard their show as better than the others, and the ones
who have watched most of them completely are in confusion whether which one do they
love more.
I binged watch ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S.’ last year when the pandemic started and finished ‘How I Met
Your Mother’ a few weeks back. To the fans of both the shows, yeah I know I am late, but
better late than never. So now that I have watched both the shows, I surely can present an
opinion on which one of the two is better than the other, can I? But if you’re reading this
article to find the better one, you won’t, because both are ‘Legend-wait for it-dary,
LEGENDARY’ in their own ways, let me tell you how.
The shows not only belong to the same genre, but also have plenty in common. They’re
both set in New York, and have a laughter track in the background. Two of the characters
are room-mates from college, we have a married couple in the group at some or the other
time in both the shows, there’s a couple who has pissed off the group with their relationship
going on and off, and there’s a playboy who always has his way with women. That’s all that
both the shows have in common in their plots.
But what is it that makes them cult-classic shows, loved so much by audience that they are
ready to binge watch them at any given point of time. It’s the joyride the take you on, it’s
the ups and downs, it’s the laughter and tears, it’s how much you relate with them, it’s the
painful truths of life they teach you with a spoonful of sugar. They tell you that friends,
family and love make the world a better place.
They tell you that you’ll find your ‘lobster’ someday. They tell you that it’s okay to
sometimes ‘not share food’. They let you know that it’s okay to say ‘Stinson out’ and back
out of plans which no longer excite you and when people ask you to lend a hand, you can
always say, ”I wish I could, but I don’t want to”. Some advices are just ‘moo points’ and it’s
okay to not even have a ‘pla-‘. And when people ask for your opinions, you could always
interest them in a sarcastic comment.
They teach you to love yourself, and whenever you’re sad just ‘suit up’ and be awesome
instead. They teach you to hold on to people who love you, slowly let go of those who don’t,
and that both of them will hurt you at some or the other point in life. Because ‘Sometimes
things have to fall apart to make way for better things’ and ‘even if you know how things are
going to end, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the ride’. Thank you for reading.
